Tip for Applying Light-Colored Epoxy Coatings

April 8, 2019

When concrete is coated with epoxy, the concrete becomes dark in appearance. Applying a pigmented primer when the end user insists on a light colored floor system will help “hide” the darkened concrete.

When applying lightly colored epoxy coatings such as white, ivory, or light grey, apply a pigmented primer, followed by 14-16 mils of Dur-A-Gard, with a final topcoat of pigmented urethane: ArmorTop or Polythane #2 High Solids.

(A test patch, if possible, is always a great selling tool as well to help meet the end users’ expectations for final floor appearance.)
